Reviews of The Cavendish at Baslow

I stayed over Christmas (2023) with my husband Tony Medlar. We had a wonderful time. It was so relaxing. Lovely surroundings, friendly, courteous staff and absolutely delicious food. Plus a live brass band on Christmas Eve which was delightful. We were not surprised that many people stay year after year.

We had a wonderful two night stay, we stayed in the Phaeton Room, which was spacious, tastefully decorated with everything you could wish for including biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge which were replenished each day. We had dinner in the Gallery Restaurant and the Garden Room restaurant which has fresh produce from the Devonshire estate, cooked beautifully, as was the breakfast. One thing we really liked is that breakfast is served until 12noon everyday! Allowing for a very leisurely morning.

Wonderful stay

Everything about our stay was absolutely wonderful. We had a dog friendly room as we bought our little dog with us and a very sweet four poster bed was provided for him, along with treats, a towel, water bowl and a tennis ball which he loved. For us the room was very cosy and decorated in a manner very fitting of the establishment. We had the tasting menu in the gallery restaurant in the evening with a wine flight which was fantastic. Food was well cooked and the sommelier was very charming and well informed. We also had breakfast in the morning which was also absolutely fantastic.

Absolutely wonderful stay

This is our second time staying at The Cavendish. We stayed in the Junior Suite in 2022, and one of the superior Coach House rooms last week. There is nothing we can fault about this hotel. It is beautiful, clean welcoming and warm. Dinner in The Gallery restaurant is always perfect. I have a nut allergy and this has always been noted and dealt with discreetly.
